Life before Expr3ss!
Before we partnered with Expr3ss!, our recruitment process at Ghanda Clothing was, frankly, a massive strain, especially on our store managers. Our managers were inundated during our yearly summer recruitment drive in particular, which sees an average of 1400+ staff hired across the business, and numbers swelling to 2,000 during peak summer periods.
Store Managers were reading countless CVs, juggling interview schedules, and trying to assess soft skills that just don’t come through on paper.
Every store manager had their own Seek or Indeed accounts, manually filtering through candidates. There was no standard process, no cohesion, and certainly no time to focus on delivering a great candidate experience.
One of our biggest challenges was assessing the soft skills and customer focus that are so crucial for retail success.
Our applicants are often our customers, and we knew we had to lift our game when it came to candidate care. We were even encouraging people to drop into stores just so our store managers could get a feel for the applicant and speed up our process. That just wasn’t scalable or sustainable.

We’d been working on a major backend IT system overhaul for years, so we were fully expecting another long and complex rollout. Even our Directors assumed we wouldn’t be able to start using Expr3ss! until the following year in early 2025. So when I provided them the update that said, “Actually, we just got given the site ready to go,” we were stunned, in the best possible way. From sign-off to go-live, it took just 48 hours.

We also worked with Expr3ss! to build a custom manager configuration into our application process.
That meant every store manager followed the same structured steps, bringing the consistency which we so desperately needed, to how we hire across all locations. For a brand like ours, where customer service and brand is everything, that consistency really matters.
Goodbye paid job boards, hello savings
Another massive win, cost savings! In Q1 of 2025 alone, we made over 70 hires, with the majority of our applicants coming via free advertising sources thanks to Expr3ss!. We’ve drastically reduced our spend on paid job ads, and we’re getting higher quality applicants in the door.
We’ve now used over 10,000 Showreel Videos
Showreel Videos gives us deep insights into candidates’ personalities, communication skills, and cultural fit before we bring them in-store. This feature alone has been a game-changer. We’re no longer trying to guess who might be the right fit from a bullet-point list of jobs on a resume; we’re actually seeing the person behind the application.
Our talent pool is thriving, too! We’ve now built a unique pool of over 50,000 applicants we can tap into at any time.
That kind of scale and flexibility would have been unthinkable with our old systems.
